Anonymous asked: Hi :) just wondering what steps you took to getting your hair that white colour and also what brands you used? I tried for ages and in the end gave up aha
Ah, of course. Well, the light blonde was definitely a process. Going solid blonde like that really compromises the hair’s integrity. So after I initially went platinum, I pampered the hell out of it. No hot tools, no more chemical processes for an entire month. THEN once my hair was a bit stronger, I did a bleach wash. Which is just shampoo and lightener. It’s not nearly as damaging as straight bleach and developer. THEN, I tone it a lot and use a violet/blue base shampoo. Toning makes a world of difference.
As for product/brands, here’s the breakdown:
The bleach: Paul Mitchell’s Dual Purpose Lightener and Paul Mitchell’s Synchro Lift.
The developer: I would use Paul Mitchell as well. I used 20 volume cream with the Dual Purpose and then 30 volume cream with Synchro Lift.
The toner: Also Paul Mitchell; Ultra Toner Platinum, or as we call it in the salon, UTP.
Shampoo/Conditioner: Is Pravana’s Pure Light shampoo and conditioner. I HIGHLY recommend this shampoo too anyone who does not want to see any warmth (yellow or orange tones) in their blonde hair. It gets the job done, and does it well. Use it sparingly, however. It varies with how often yiu wash your hair, but once or twice a week should manage perfrctly. The shampoo itself is a deep indigo color, so it’s kinda scary at first thinking, “Is my hair going to be purple??” The answer is no, AS LONG as you leave it on for roughly 3-5 minutes, five being the absolute maximum. Any longer and your hair will come out with violet and blue tints, haha. Even if it did, it will wash out in the next wash or two. Another awesome thing about this Pravana Shampoo is that it’s sulfate free. (: Incredibly healthy for your hair, which is difficult to a platinum shampoo with hair preservation qualities. It smells fantastic, too.
I’m a huuuuuuge healthy hair nut, and a hair nut in general, lol. So if you have ANY questions at all regarding hair, by all means fire away. I hope I was able to provide you with the answers you were searching for, anon!
Namaste
